Dutch teenagers Jonathan and his best mate Coen were raised as Jehovah's Witnesses, a strict Bible-focused minority community which monopolizes nearly all of the members' lives, imposing missionary work in pairs, knocking at every door trying to sell the magazines and the message which believers consider the whole and only Divine truth. Both boys can however play modern music, rehearsing for the religious Sunday service band, and secretly see girlfriends who aren't "in the truth" (converted). Jonathan's Marjan, a rebellious squatter and graphic artist, drags the well-behaved boy along in heathenish gang-mischief such as shop vandalism and can't believe he accepted all his life to do meekly as his parents and (church) elders tell him in God's name instead of making his own choices. When Jonathan's father expects him to join the boss's boat-building firm as apprentice at minimal wage, bagging on the art academy he dreams of as 'barbaric filth', some teenage rebellion sets in; when Coen dumps his 'external' girl but also confesses about both of them, Jonathan proposes to Marjan. However the 'community' takes a more then dim view on 'traitors', without any right of defense the elders fire his father from the rotating hierarchy and judge the well-meaning boy's "irredeemable moral depravity" gravely...

Stan Meijer is by nature a good boy, but grows up frustrated in Venlo, a boring provincial town in the Catholic Dutch South, feeling neglected by his gold-digger mother who remarried a dentist and abandoned by his biological father, a friendly macho trucker who stood the pre-teen up for reasons unknown when he planned to move in with him, never to be heard off until reading his dad's obituary. So instead of joining the minor socialite life, Stan hooks up with junkies Maikel (dialect pronunciation-spelling for Michael) Verheije, a hot-head small criminal, and Sef, his lieutenant, who drag him along in small crime as an adolescent. When the bumbling trio gets arrested red-handed, the police sends both ruffians to jail but releases Stan as implausible suspect. He's too nice to accept when Maikel's girl-friend offers herself to him, and on Maikel's release joins him in a hold-up which goes bad, as the nervous amateurs needlessly kill the victim, a shopkeeper and secret weed-grower, rather than extort his illegal money as planned. The trio fears his Turkish crime boss Osman's gang will come after them, but instead are recruited as sort of a death squad in a gang war they don't even care to learn the nature of...

Berry is a nice teenage boy from a Dutch suburban villa family, who alas abuses the excessive liberty granted by his mostly absent pa, an actor, committing truancy from his elite school in bad down-town company. Despite this dwindling future perspectives, his cute and cocky appearance makes him quite a lady-killer; Berry counts himself quite lucky to become the instantly intimate boyfriend of crazy Thera, a junkie who stopped modeling professionally or anything else productive. The pair engages in a passionate affair, and impulsively decides to embark on a 'world tour' to their arbitrary favorite destinations -Barcelona, Denver and Tonga- which they finance by cashing rent and warrants from many interested persons for the fine residence of an old lady Thera was in fact just house-sitting. After Berry says goodbye indefinitely to his well-groomed and -behaved elder brother Rein while showering together, the 'elopers' start spending the ill-gotten funds like water in a luxury hotel, but even there the flimsy foundation of their purposeless relationship starts crumbling, as does drug-addicted Thera's health...
