Fullplot:

"Moody" is an Iranian doctor living in America with his American wife Betty and their child Mahtob. Wanting to see his homeland again, he convinces his wife to take a short holiday there with him and Mahtob. Betty is reluctant, as Iran is not a pleasant place, especially if you are American and female. Upon arrival in Iran, it appears that her worst fears are realized: Moody declares that they will be living there from now on. Betty is determined to escape from Iran, but taking her daughter with her presents a larger problem.

Fullplot:

Kishan Singh, his wife, and an only child, a son, Raj,live in India. Kishan runs his household by working as a school-teacher. They want their son to grow up well educated, and live a better life abroad. Raj studiously pursues his studies in medicine, & re-locates to in Pittsburgh, U.S.A., soon becomes establishes his practice there. He falls in love with a lovely Caucasian woman named Laura, and both get married, and soon give birth to a daughter and name her Jenny. Thereafter tragedy befalls the Singh family as Kishan's wife passes away. Alone, retired, and not having much to do in India, he decides to re-locate to U.S.A. and live with his son. He is received warmly by Laura, Raj, and Jenny. Kishan and Jenny take to each other very well, and often go for long walks in the countryside. On one such walk, Kishan and Jenny separate. Kishan is unable to locate her, and asks Raj and Laura to help him. A frantic search does get them to Jenny - but anger and acrimony have now taken over Laura, and she distrusts Kishan, and would like him to keep away from her family. Kishan does get the message and moves out to live with another East Indian named Ashok. Raj and Jenny regret this, and often miss him. Kishan and Laura do not know that they will meet again soon when Kishan is held at a popular book store for purportedly attempting to steal a book. Will this meeting change their relationship with each other?

Circa 1971, Gustad Noble lives in a one bedroom hall rented apartment in Byculla, Bombay. He travels to work everyday by Central Railway to Victoria Terminus and walks to Flora Fountain to his place of employment, namely the Central Bank of India. He has three children, Sohrab - who has finished his college studies and is now being admitted, much to his dislike, to Indian Institute of Technology (I.I.T.); while Darius, his second son, and daughter, Roshan, are school-going; his wife, Dilnavaz, looks after the children and the household. Their neighborhood is filthy, people urinate and defecate near the wall which encloses their building. Gustad asks a pavement artist to move near his building, draw pictures of religious Gods and Goddesses depicting the four main religions: Hinduism, Islam, Christianity, and Sikhism. The Artist agrees, and soon the place is transformed into a huge temple where people of all religions come to pay their respects. It is only a handful of people who know that Gustad is involved with a rebel RAW Agent, Major Jimmy Billimoria, who is actively involved with an extremist organization in East Pakistan, Awami League, aiding them financially and with manpower to overcome the Pakistani Government. The question remains what will Gustad's plight be when the news gets out of his involvement in this activity, especially when he receives 10 lakh rupees to be deposited in small installments in his Bank, in the midst of sentiments running high, war being declared between Pakistan and India, emergency blackout conditions and air raid sirens.
