A hilarious underworld gangster known as Munna Bhai falls comically in love with a radio host by the name of Jahnvi, who runs an elders' home, which is taken over by an unscrupulous builder, who gets the residents kicked out ironically with the help of Munna's sidekick, Circuit, while Munna is busy romancing Jahnvi elsewhere. K.K. Khosla (Anupam Kher) is a middle class man living in New Delhi. He is a simple man with simple tastes. The plot starts with a scene where Khosla dreams about his death. The irony is that nobody cares about his death; instead his children & neighbours are more interested in their materialistic needs. One early morning in Delhi, Khosla wakes up and plans to go to the site where he has purchased a plot to build his house. He is accompanied by his wife, eldest son Bunty (Ranvir Shorey), second son Chironji Lal Khosla (Parvin Dabas), and his daughter. When they reach the spot they find that the site has been occupied by someone else and on further investigation find that it has been captured by a property usurping nexus headed by a man named Kishan Khurana (Boman Irani). Khurana demands Rs. 15 lakhs to vacate the plot, which Khosla refuses to give. Bunty gathers few local strongmen and forcefully destroys the walls and re-occupies the plot. But Khurana has the police on his side and he gets Khosla arrested. After a day in the lock-up, Khosla is released. After Cherry meets Asif Iqbal who at one time was Khurana's partner. Khurana took away Asif's ancestral land by cheating him. So Asif and the Khoslas turn the tables on Khurana and dupe him of Rs. 35 lakhs (by fraud). In the end, Khosla gives the required 15 lakh to Khurana and takes possession of his plot.

The Nanda family based in Milan,Italy is a very powerful family with a huge business empire. Raghunanda(Boman Irani), his son(Mukesh Rishi)and his grandson Gautam Nanda(Pawan Kalyan) manage their billion dollar business.Raghunanda asks his grandson to fulfil his wish of reuniting him(Raghunanda) with her daughter.In the past, she is asked to get out of the house for having married a pleader without their family's consent which leads to a heated and a shocking thing ,which is later revealed in the film. Gautam promises his grandfather that he would reunite him with his estranged daughter Sunanda(Nadiya) ,who lives far away from them in Hyderabad, he decides to travel to India and bring her back. But as he reaches Hyderabad , he come to know that his uncle(Rao Ramesh)is at the airport who returns back to Hyderabad from Chennai.His uncle in fact has a stroke while driving back and Gautam takes him to a hospital and saves his life. In the hospital he sees his aunt for the first time.He is asked to take up the job of their driver, in their house and enters into their lives.As the story unfolds he finds out that convincing his aunt to come back isn't easy and remains a stranger to the family. Bhoothnath Returns takes Bhoothnath's story forward. As he returns to 'Bhoot World' he is greeted with taunts and condemnation from other ghosts for bringing disrepute to the ghost-community for getting bullied by a kid on Earth.
