Kishen Kumar Chaudhary and Karan are family like friends, when Kishen's wife Mrs. Kaushalya gives birth to a baby boy Prem, Karan helps the couple bring up there child with out- most care. Years later the two friends have parted ways, Karan likes in a shanty house, works as a mechanic and is the father to a young girl Suman while Kishen is a wealthy industrialist and lives in a spacious bungalow. In order to accumulate huge sums of fund abroad for good living Karan decides to leave Suman in the care of the Chaudhary's family. All is well there for Suman as she is befriend by Prem which eventually blossom to love, Kaushalya finds out about Prem and Suman's relationship and approve of Suman as her daughter-in-law but Kishen is quite unhappy with the relationship as he have plans to get Prem marry to his business partner's daughter Seema thus he insults Suman and throw her out of his house. Karan returns and is enraged at the treatment his daughter receive and leaves the house immediately with his daughter. Prem too is unhappy with his dad's decision and he also leaves the house opting to marry Suman with the blessings of Karan. But Karan refuses to accept Prem and the only way Prem can win Karan's approval is if he prove that he can earn money by his own sweat.

Aman (Sanjay Dutt) is a poor, handicapped orphan who is befriended by wealthy Akash Verma (Salman Khan) during his childhood. Akash's parents adopt him and give him their family name, and Akash and Aman grow up as brothers. While Akash is a womanizer, Aman takes to writing poems under the pen name Sagar. The poems get published, and Aman becomes very popular. One of his fans is a young woman by the name of Pooja Saxena (Madhuri Dixit), who corresponds with Sagar. Akash meets Pooja and falls head over heels in love with her. When Aman comes to know this, he asks Akash to pose as Sagar, which he does, and Pooja and Akash fall in love with each other. A heartbroken Aman looks on, as he knows that although women may like his poetry, they will never come out openly and love him when they see his handicap. At the end, Akash discovers that Aman is actually Sagar and loves Pooja, so he decides to sacrifice his love for Aman.

The dog takes the necklace and note and instead of giving it to Prem, he gives to Rajesh. Rajesh finds out that Nisha and Prem love each other, and steps aside so that his younger brother can marry Nisha. They live happily ever after.

Then Arjun is arrested by the police; his case is called up in a court of law where-by there are many charges lay on him - one of them involves having an illicit relationship with his very own sister, Rakhi Dixit. With Trevadi still in the port-folio it certainly looks like Arjun will get a life sentence.

Orphaned and homeless Ranbir Raj re-locates to a small town and orders a glass of milk in the RK Bar. He befriends a prostitute by the name of Gulabji, who invites him to spend the night with her, and when he refuses, she re-directs him to Lillian who rents out rooms. Ranbir meets with Lillian, who has been living alone for 37 years after her son, Vincent, left to join the army and did not return, charms her, and rents a room from her. He gets a job as a singer in a local restaurant. On the occasion of Eid, while returning home, he comes across a woman standing on the bridge. Imaan had left, promising to return on Eid, but has not done so. She finds out that he may be staying at the Momim Lodge and asks Ranbir to deliver a letter to him. A crestfallen Ranbir destroys the letter, but does go to Momim Lodge, and this is where he finds that no one by the name of Imaan had ever lived there. Encouraged by this news, he returns back and attempts to win Sakina's heart. The question remains will he succeed or will Sakina spend the rest of her life waiting for Imaan's return?
